Associate Professor Nicola Wheen

University of Otago Faculty of Law

Nicola teaches and convenes Public Law, Environmental Law and International Environmental Law, and has supervised many Law Honours dissertations, and several LLM and PhD theses. Nicola’s main research interest is New Zealand environmental law. Her photo shows her giving a presentation at the IUCN Academy of Environmental Law Colloquium in Baltimore in 2012, and was taken courtesy of the University of Maryland. She has worked with the Humane Society (International), the Office of the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment, the Whale and Dolphin Trust and the Environmental Defence Society on specific projects, and co-drafted the Marine Animals Protection Law Reform Bill in 2009. Nicola co-edited The Waitangi Tribunal/Te Roopu Whakamana i te Tiriti o Waitangi and Treaty of Waitangi Settlements (2004 and 2012, Bridget Williams Books) with Janine Hayward (Politics, Otago).

 

Nicola is co-convenor of the RMLA AAG.
