Associate Professor Caroline Miller

Massey University School of People, Environment and Planning

I have two distinct but related threads in my research. I have a strong interest in the operation, performance and the Resource Management Act1991 (RMA), and produced the first comprehensive critical assessment of the RMA — Implementing Sustainability: the New Zealand Experience (Routledge, 2011). Presently, I have begun looking at how health and ageing issues can be better incorporated in future plans. I have also produced substantial published research into the history of planning and environmental management in New Zealand, including the work of RB Hammond, the involvement of Māori in planning processes and the development of the planning profession.
